Medicare Rebates
Private clients only
Angela Donde is registered with the Psychologists
Registration Board of Victoria and the
Australian
Psychological Society and has a Generalist
provider number with Medicare. She is
eligible to deliver up to 12 individual and 12 group
sessions in a calendar year of focused psychological
strategies, under the Medicare rebate scheme, to people
who have a recognised psychological problem.
Eligible clients with a valid doctor referral can receive up to
12 counselling sessions (rebated at $80.20 per
session) and 12 group sessions (rebated at $
20.45 per session) in a calendar year. After the
initial 6 sessions there will be a review by the GP and
the psychologist to determine whether a further 6
sessions is warranted.
To get a written referral you will need to make an
appointment with a doctor (GP) to complete a Mental Health Care Plan.
At the time of making your referral appointment, it is
important to inform the doctor’s receptionist that you
want a referral to see a psychologist as a GP
needs a longer session to complete the assessment and
discuss the Mental Health Care Plan with you. So make
sure you ask for a double session.
If you wish to claim the Medicare Rebate for your first
and subsequent counselling sessions, you must
obtain your written GP referral prior to your
first counselling appointment.
If you do not have a GP, or want to use another GP, we
can refer you to several GP’s in your area that are
up-to-date with Medicare Rebates and referrals to
psychologists.
Note that you do not require a referral form from a GP
unless you intend to claim a Medicare rebate.

Rebates and procedures please
